Dear Friend,

I'm filled with deep gratitude for our accomplishments amidst the challenges of 2023. With your support, Justice for all Immigrants (JFAI) this year, we have:

  1. Helped 275 clients who are escaping various forms of violence to obtain pro bono legal assistance, which is crucial in leading to a safe haven to rebuild their lives with dignity and respect.
  2. Empowered 147 children's lives through high-quality legal immigration services, considered a gateway to new possibilities, instilling hope and paving the way for a more promising future.
  3. Supported 115 clients in receiving work authorization that helped empower them to build better futures and contribute positively to our community's economic growth.
  4. Represented individuals from 38 different countries with legal assistance. This diversity underscores our commitment to inclusivity and the universal right to legal representation, regardless of one's country of origin.
  5. Grown in capacity by a remarkable 59% from 2022 to 2023, which enables us to reach and serve more low-income individuals who require our high-quality legal assistance.

As we look forward to the upcoming year, we are hopeful and determined to continue this vital work. Our achievements are not just numbers, as they represent individual stories of resilience, hope, and new beginnings.

We are grateful for your continued support, which makes all of this possible. Together, we are making a difference, one life at a time.

With heartfelt thanks,

Joy Green

Charting the Path to Citizenship: Ismael's Inspiring Story

Ismael, a 32-year-old from Mexico, embarked on an inspiring journey toward U.S. citizenship, a path that was guided by the assistance from JFAI. His introduction to JFAI came through the recommendation of his local church community, leading him to seek JFAI's expertise in navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration laws. With JFAI's guidance, Ismael undertook the citizenship application process, achieving success in a surprisingly short span – his case was approved in just one year, with the final nod coming in November 2023.

This successful journey to naturalization not only realized Ismael's dream but also opened doors to his future ambitions, including a plan to petition for his parents to become permanent residents. Ismael's story stands as a hope and a testament to the power of dedicated advocacy. Daniella Salas-Chacon, Ismael's attorney, proudly celebrates this significant milestone – the successful conclusion of his citizenship journey on American soil.

Negotiations on Immigration and Border Policy Reach an Impasse

Senate negotiators are working urgently to revive bipartisan talks on border and Ukraine funding after leading Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy declared an impasse, potentially jeopardizing President Joe Biden’s foreign policy agenda. Murphy revealed that Republicans are demanding border policies that would essentially close the border and eliminate asylum, which Democrats find unacceptable. The fate of Biden’s $106 billion national security spending pitch depends on reaching a border deal that can advance alongside funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Negotiators are attempting to salvage the talks, but the situation remains tense, with potential filibusters and challenges in both the Senate and House. The Biden administration warns of the urgent need for funding to support Ukraine's defense efforts before the end of the year.

The retreat marked the phase where everyone could acquaint themselves and cultivate working relationships. Upon the retreat's conclusion, the team left with a renewed sense of harmony that enhanced professional relationships and unity.

More Ways You Can Help

Our office is currently accepting donations of coloring books, crayons, and children's puzzles! We would like to have these items available for the children who visit our office. Client appointments can be difficult and tiring for children, and it is a beautiful way to keep the little ones occupied.

If you wish to give, contact us here.

THANK YOU!

As always, we would like to express our appreciation to our supporters, whose generous donations have a profound impact on the lives of our clients.
