| Dear Friend, As we close out 2025, I reflect on a year shaped by challenge, perseverance, and the quiet strength of the communities we serve. This year reminded us that access to safety, stability, and justice is never guaranteed, but it is always worth protecting. Even in moments of uncertainty, our clients showed courage, and our team remained deeply committed to meeting them with care, professionalism, and respect. Throughout the year, Justice for all Immigrants (JFAI) expanded access to high-quality immigration legal services across Houston and San Antonio, while hosting and participating in nearly 60 citizenship workshops, Know Your Rights presentations, and outreach events, reaching more than 1,500 community members. From survivors seeking safety to unaccompanied children seeking protection and stability, to families pursuing lawful status and citizenship, our work moved forward because of our dedicated staff, trusted partners, committed volunteers, and supporters. As we look toward 2026, our focus remains clear: to strengthen our legal programs, deepen community partnerships, and continue delivering reliable, compassionate representation. Thank you for standing with JFAI this year. Your trust and generosity make it possible for us to continue showing up for our clients, today and in the year ahead. With Gratitude, Joy Green Executive Director Justice for all Immigrants |
| | Elizabeth Finds Stability After Years of Silence Elizabeth* married her husband in 1988 when she was just 20 years old. From the beginning, she endured years of physical and psychological abuse. She stayed for the sake of her children and because divorce was strongly discouraged in her culture. For decades, she lived in silence, putting her family first while carrying the weight of harm no one should endure. After a severe escalation of abuse that left her fearing for her life, Elizabeth made the courageous decision to leave. She reported the abuse to law enforcement, and with the support of her now-adult children, she was able to escape the marriage and begin rebuilding her life. Because of her cooperation with law enforcement, JFAI helped Elizabeth obtain a U visa certification and submit her U visa application. While U visa cases face long delays due to statutory limits, Elizabeth received a bona fide determination, confirming her eligibility and allowing her to obtain work authorization . With the ability to work legally and secure a driver’s license, Elizabeth now has greater stability and peace of mind. At 57, she was especially grateful to transition from a physically demanding job to less strenuous employment, an essential step toward healing and independence. | | Citizenship Celebration 2025: Honoring New Beginnings in Our Community On Saturday, December 6, JFAI joined the first Citizenship Celebration, hosted by Harris County Housing and Community Development (HCD), Precinct 2, Harris County Public Library (HCPL), and Tejano Center, held at the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success. Nearly 70 community members gathered to celebrate newly naturalized citizens and the partners who supported them through the Immigration Legal Services Fund (INSF). A special moment for our team was seeing staff attorney Esther Oni receive a certificate on behalf of JFAI, honoring the dedication and care our staff bring to every client. The event featured remarks from county leadership, recognition of new citizens, and a light reception with music from the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success Jazz Ensemble. | | JFAI 2025 Staff Retreat: Aligning for the Year Ahead On December 5-6, JFAI staff gathered in Houston for our 2025 Staff Retreat, combining team-building activities with intentional time for reflection and planning. Through guided discussions and a year-end vision session, the team reflected on key accomplishments from 2025 and identified opportunities for growth.
