| Dear Friend, At Justice for all Immigrants (JFAI), our work is sustained by a powerful community of clients, volunteers, donors, and partners. Your trust and support give meaning to every consultation, every workshop, and every courtroom victory. It is more than legal services we provide - it is a shared belief in justice, dignity, and the right of every person to seek a better future. In a time when immigration policy is increasingly volatile and headlines are often dominated by fear and division, JFAI remains a reliable source of support and advocacy. From community outreach to naturalization assistance to legal screenings, our team continues to meet uncertainty with resolve. We respond to people, ensuring they are informed, protected, and empowered. This month, we continued that mission, where our team provided a Know Your Rights presentation to the community and helped many permanent residents begin their path to citizenship. These are more than just appointments on a calendar, they are acts of courage and resilience. You helped make these stories happen by supporting every person we serve, from their first consultation to the day they find permanency in the United States. As we move forward, I ask you to continue standing with us. Whether you lend your time, share our work, or make a gift, your support makes a lasting difference. In Appreciation, Joy Green Executive Director Justice for all Immigrants |

| | | The Trump administration’s new registration requirement for undocumented immigrants, which took effect on April 11, 2025, has raised alarm across immigrant communities and advocacy organizations. Under this policy, most noncitizens who have been in the United States for over 30 days must register with the government using Form G-325R. This online-only form requires disclosing personal, legal, and immigration history. While the administration frames this as a lawful requirement, advocates warn it is primarily designed to gather information that could lead to detention and deportation. Registering does not provide protection or status, and in many cases, may carry significant risks. Before submitting anything, individuals should consult with an immigration attorney to understand their options and rights. Many people are already considered registered based on prior contact with immigration authorities or past applications. | | When John came across JFAI on social media, he was searching for answers and hope. A longtime resident from Cameroon, he was ready to apply for U.S. citizenship but felt overwhelmed by the complex process. “I didn’t know what documents were needed or how to complete them correctly,” he recalled. That’s when JFAI stepped in. Through JFAI’s legal clinic in Houston, John received free assistance with his naturalization application. The team helped him move his application forward with confidence. “I’m so grateful for the support JFAI offers to me and the whole community,” he said. Becoming a U.S. citizen was more than a personal victory. It opened the door to new possibilities for his family. With citizenship, he now has the chance to help bring loved ones closer and share the life he’s worked so hard to build. He believes this kind of legal support transforms communities, especially for those with limited resources. The impact, he said, goes far beyond paperwork, it restores dignity and provides brighter futures. “JFAI’s dedication to advocating for immigrants is truly inspiring,” John added. “Their work is deeply appreciated.” He encourages others to seek help from JFAI, advising, “Be patient, follow the rules, and don’t give up.” *Photo changed for privacy reasons. |

| | For Abby, volunteering with JFAI isn’t just about showing up, it’s about standing up. A naturalized U.S. citizen who spent more than 30 years as a permanent resident, Abby understands the challenges and hopes that define the immigrant journey. That’s why she’s offered her time, heart, and voice to the mission of JFAI. “I believe everyone deserves a fair shot at the American Dream,” Abby says. “Just because someone can’t afford legal help shouldn’t mean they go without justice.” Now serving on JFAI’s Fundraising Committee, Abby’s impact is woven through every layer of our work. What fuels her commitment? A belief that love and community are powerful tools in the face of fear and xenophobia. “As we encounter negativity, it’s more important than ever to spread love,” she reminds us. Abby embodies how one voice, one act of service, can spark meaningful change, and she invites others to be part of it. “Your gifts and graces will always be appreciated and put to good use,” she says. “God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.” Want to stand with volunteers like Abby? Volunteer, donate, or share our mission. There’s a place for you in this work, and lives waiting to be changed. |
| | | Empowering Conversations on Immigration On May 16, José Martinez, JFAI’s Legal Director, provided a Know Your Rights presentation at Iglesia Fraternidad Cristiana Church, offering valuable information about immigration protections and procedures. After the session, he answered community members’ questions on topics ranging from legal status to family petitions in a welcoming Q&A. “It’s important for people to know they’re not alone and that there are resources available to help them navigate these challenges,” José said. The evening wrapped up with pan dulce, coffee, and a generous grocery distribution from the church. It was more than an information session, it was a gathering of support and shared hope in uncertain times |

| | Texas Sheriffs Required to Collaborate with ICE Under New Bill The Texas House approved Senate Bill 8, which mandates sheriffs request formal partnerships with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for designated deputies to serve administrative immigration warrants at their jails. The bill is poised for the governor’s desk and, if signed into law, would require local law enforcement to collaborate with federal immigration authorities, potentially increasing deportations and affecting immigrant communities across the state. Read the full story here. Trump Administration Moves to End Protections for Immigrant Children The Trump administration has filed a motion to terminate the Flores Settlement Agreement, a longstanding legal framework that sets standards for the detention and treatment of immigrant children in federal custody.
